Crossroad’s “Best Fashion Find” July Winner

tristinstyling’s own Christine Matsunaga, is the July winner of Crossroads Trading Company’s “Best Fashion Find”!

Here’s a cut and paste of the post from the Crossroads blog:

Congratulations to Christine Matsunaga, the July winner of our Best Fashion Find contest.  Christine has just won a $50 Crossroads gift certificate!  Here are her winning photos (left) and comments:

“My best find at Crossroads you ask? More like, ‘My best finds are always at Crossroads!’ I can’t walk into a Crossroads and NOT find something! I saw this lovely Trina Turk, black cracked leather ‘Big Cypress’ shoulder bag (originally retailed at $535) at the Wicker Park location and just had to have it. Just look at it! You know you’re jealous it was me and not you who found it!

This month, we had to give an honorable mention to Lil Miss Hot Mess.   We loved this glamorous city shot and accompanying comments:

“I needed a dress for the opening night of Frameline33, the SF International LGBT Film Festival.   And you know, a drag queen’s got to look fierce, but since it was a nice affair I wanted to go a little extra classy.  When I saw this dress, I knew it was the one; it has this classic, vaguely Hepburn feel, and better yet, it was exactly the same color as all the festival posters.  So, I paired it with green tights and a marigold bow to get the color combo just right.  It’s an Isaac Mizrahi for Target.”

Sandals!

It’s been a while since we’ve received repost worthy content from WhoWhatWearDaily.

Our favorite? We’re loving the Wysh Sandal by Steve Madden (pictured left).

Take a look and read at their favorite sandals below:

“As you may have noticed, today’s splendid picks are all of the flat variation. And while we die for killer heels, we also think investing in planar pairs is just as life-affirming. Like a blazer or a top knot, these low-rise styles are a good way to incorporate some quick and easy polish into your look. ”

1. Matiko Lace-Up Bootie ($148)
2. Steve Madden Wysh Sandal ($80)
3. Mogil Coeur Shoe ($198)
4. Dolce Vita Hampton Sandal ($143)

Take a read at what ideeli has to say about all this:

“French Fetish

Paris, the City of Lights, also happens to be the mecca of fashion. And perhaps no other city rivals its history and reputation when it comes to turning out unabashedly sexy, undeniably sophisticated accessories. Just take the legacy of Christian Louboutin for example. Raised in the heart of Paris, Louboutin’s first inspiration hit him at the tender age of twelve, when he spotted a drawing of a sharp-heeled woman’s shoe in the African and Oceanic Art Museum.

Fueled by this passion, Louboutin went on to train at the iconic French houses of Chanel and Yves Saint Laurent before founding his own self-titled label and boutique in Paris in 1992. His aesthetic lies in that slender space between sex kitten and lady-who-lunches. With an ambitious vision and a sharp eye for detail, Louboutin creates shoes and handbags that remind us that fashion should be fun and that a slight fetish for French design can make a sultry impact on your style.”

$125 Designer Denim Coupon for only $50 at The Denim Lounge?!

Whoa! That’s just nuts! We’ve NEVER seen an in-store deal this good from the Denim Lounge locations on Oak St. and Roscoe!

This $125 coupon for only $50 in only available until midnight from Groupon. It’s not even lunchtime yet and 592 coupons have been bought already!

What is Groupon you ask? Click here to see. Or here to read what people are saying on Yelp. We’ve been subscribing for a while now and love how easy it is to get steals at local boutiques and restaurants!

The description of today’s coupon from the Groupon site is posted below…

Choose From 20 Premium Brands at 60% Off

The Fine Print

  • Expires 10/12/2009
  • Good for men’s and women’s denim jeans only (not valid on children’s jeans)
  • Must use at either Oak St. or Roscoe St. location (in-store only)
  • Valid for new and existing customers
  • One per customer
  • Can purchase multiple as gifts

Nothing’s better than a great pair of jeans — especially if, like Mr. Groupon, you wear that pair of jeans every single day for 2+ years. Unfortunately, great jeans aren’t cheap, and tough economic times have forced many of us to resort to more primitive means of hiding our lower body shame. But that all changes with today’s Groupon to The Denim Lounge, where you can choose from the finest denim designers at a $75 discount. With over 20 premium designer brands and an expert team that will actually fit you into the best size and style, The Denim Lounge takes the art of blue jeans to the next level.

This Groupon can be used at The Denim Lounge’s Oak St. and Roscoe Village locations. The Oak St. location even has a “butt cam,” so you can see how the denim shapes your rear on a plasma TV. Whether you’re a jean junkie or a first-timer who’s always wondered what it would feel like to wear a nice pair of jeans, you’ll never get a better deal than today’s Groupon.

Plenty of Chicagoans already know and love The Denim Lounge. Here’s what some of their fans are saying:

  • “They have a HUGE selection of women and men’s jeans (many brands, styles, washes, etc.), and great tops. The service was great, and the employees were very helpful and friendly!” Katie G., Yelp
  • It’s nice to know there is a unique store like this still on the Gold Coast. After being so tired of walking into all of the chain stores, we were thrilled to walk onto Oak St. to see the great boutiques and especially the Denim Lounge. Sarahbryn, Citysearch

For those of you who are new to the world of denim, we offer the following extremely short primer.

Everybody’s Talkin’ About Denim

Look to your left. Look to your right. If you happen to be standing or sitting in between two people, one of those people is wearing or has worn denim. What is at the root of this material’s meteoric rise to become one of our nation’s most beloved pant fabrics? The answer lies in the denim itself: denim.

Most commonly found in the form of blue jeans, denim can also be used to fashion jackets, hats, and skirts (and that is all). “Denim” shirts are actually made of Zenim, a chafe-resistant denim substitute.

People like denim because it’s comfortable, durable, and doesn’t require washing or ironing. If you’ve never tried it, today’s Groupon is the perfect chance to sample some of the world’s finest denim at a price you can afford.
