Month: June 2008

I have been anticipating the release of the instinct for months now… Well… I finally got my hands on one today and yes… so far… it’s all they make it out to be! Plus, it’s stylish with it’s sleek black design that is small enough to fit into and match my little black demi pouch!

Devotte’s Divine Design

New York-based Designer Nancy Kim is the woman behind this divine collection of shoes named it Devotte as a play on shoes being her most “coveted” wardrobe pieces. Perfect for the lifestyle of the cosmopolitan woman (where some would find it more efficient to not have to keep a stash of shoes at the office) her heels don’t go too high for comfort so one can wear them all day!

Here’s a snippet from refinery29 that breaks it down nicely:
According to Kim, good footwear also posed “the biggest challenge,” and anyone who’s walked ten blocks in a new pair of strappies would agree. What she’s come up with is a small but refreshing line of shoes, most of which carry off the signature Devotte heel, which is, according to our experts, just high enough. Kim confirms it was important to her to make comfortable designs her active customers could wear all day, from office to evening with a minimum of agony—all shoes come with a high-tech insole that has anti-shock and slow rebound properties, plus a lifetime guarantee.

I had a hard time picking my favorite pair so I had to make a top 3 (my 3 favorites below):

Knock-off Report: Marc’s Pretty Nylon Tate Tote

shopbop calls the little version their “new go-to casual bag” retailing at $158.00 and measuring 13″H x 15″L x 4″D with a 5″ strap drop (Available in cream or black). The larger version retails at$188 and measures 17″H x 16″L x 6″D with a 7″ strap drop (Also available at Bloomingdales in “Way Fluoro Pink” or Black).

If you don’t have the budget for Marc Jacobs, click on over to Forever21 where they have their “Nylon Quilt Tote” in gray retailing at $26.80 and measuring 19″W x 17″L.

Knock-off Report: Ruffled-Bib Tank

Back in March I styled a client (left) in an adorable MARC by Marc Jacobs Ruffled-Bib Tank in cream for one of her looks during her photo shoot. The tank is also available in red at Neiman Marcus and is currently on sale for $118 (from the original price of $168).

Today, after having a very successful shopping session at Crossroads Trading Company in Evanston, I took a client to continue our session at the Old Orchard Shopping Center and stepped into the Forever 21 just to pick up some basics since another shopping client did well at the downtown location a little over a week ago.

Now imagine how SHOCKED I was when I saw a really good knock-off of the red version for only $19.80 as I accidentally walked by it during my search for some colorful basics! The knock-off isn’t ribbed, is a bit longer in length and is lacking the point at the bottom of the “bib” (which makes the knock-off a better fit)!

I had my client try it on and it fit her so nicely that she ended up buying it!
